Entercom/Los Angeles is looking for a highly-motivated individual to produce traffic in a very energized environment. The right candidate has knowledge of the greater Los Angeles-area geography, ability to quickly assimilate traffic information, can multi-task in a high stress environment and work closely with on air talent and law enforcement agencies to accurately disseminate timely traffic information. Must have a sense of urgency and a keen attention to detail while staying cool under the pressure of Los Angeles complicated drive-time traffic and breaking news.
Ability to determine relevancy of incidents, and assign reporters accordingly
Work closely with police, fire, government agencies, traffic sources for updates
Monitor social media platforms for breaking traffic information
Post traffic incidents on social media platforms and radio station websites as directed
Plan and prepare for upcoming traffic-affected events
Multitasking in a quickly-changing high pressure environment
Answer traffic tip line and verify information given by listeners
Gather, write and input traffic incident information into traffic computer system
- A minimum of two years traffic producing experience is preferred
- On-air experience a plus
- Knowledge of the broadcast area roadways, geography and transportation systems are essential, along with the ability to learn new markets
- Must have proficiency with basic computer programs. CHP, Caltrans, Trafficland websites
- Listen to scanner to gather information from police, fire, other agencies.
- Excellent phone etiquette
- Ability to work under pressure, meet broadcast deadlines, prioritize and take direction
- The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to multi-task and monitor several different traffic resources (websites/traffic tip line/scanners/maps/traffic cameras) to assemble accurate data to be used within traffic reports and other platforms
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, stand, sit, walk, use hands, reach with hands/ arms and manipulate a computer keyboard and phone. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Job requires a majority of the work day to be spent sitting and typing at computers.
