This position is located with Assistant Secretary-Indian Affairs, Deputy Assistant Secretary-Management in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, in Reston, VA. This position performs a variety of mail handling services and routine clerical duties. You must be able to independently apply policies, procedures and regulation to a variety of situations
Sort, route and distribute incoming unclassified mail and packages.
Process all outgoing unclassified mail for USPS and Federal Express, screening for adherence to USPS, Federal Express, Agency and security procedures.
Operation mail room equipment and machines(i.e., meter equipment, fax and copier, etc.) and schedules maintenance.
Prepares requisitions for supply vendors and seeks proper signature authority.
Logs incoming and outgoing packages.

To qualify at the GS-5 level, you must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 grade level performing the following: 1) receiving and consolidating mail from the U.S. Post Office; 2) receiving incoming deliveries from Fed Ex and UPS and routing as appropriate; 3) determining appropriate postal class, including Fed Ex and UPS; and 4) maintaining registers on all incoming mail.
Education: Successful completion of a full 4 year course of study (120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours) in any field to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university.
A combination of experience and education that totals 100% of the requirement.
