The Clinical Specialist will provide case support coverage and focus on educating and supporting new Intellijoint users and ensure the retention of existing users. This role will work closely with the New York area Sales team to quickly learn the medical device industry with the goal of contributing to our growth in the territory. This is a fast-paced position working with thought leaders in the orthopedic surgery field and provides an opportunity to work with a disruptive technology that can improve surgical outcomes and restore a patient’s quality of life. It requires a self-starter who can build relationships quickly and handle a dynamic environment and changing schedule.
As a snapshot, we are looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about medical device technology and pursuing a career in medical sales
- Ready to be exposed to the Operating Room and support customers through the use of our products
- An excellent communicator with the ability to build professional relationships with hospitals and surgeons
- Provide complete site management of hospitals within the assigned region, including exceptional intra-operative support of Intellijoint products, clinical and technical in-services to new surgeons and medical staff within the assigned region, educating them on the use of our products
- Visit all Intellijoint customers within assigned region as prioritized by the Clinical Sales Manager
- Build strong relationships with product users, ensuring their retention through the development of relationships and implementation of strategies with the aim of increased usage of Intellijoint products
- Identify and uncover new sales opportunities within existing accounts and hospitals
- Develop and maintain strong relationships and implement strategies for increased usage of Intellijoint products with existing accounts
- Support ongoing clinical programs at existing hospitals as necessary
- Own the adoption of new Intellijoint products in the future to existing customers
- Coordinate, communicate and collaborate with complementary medical device suppliers
- Maintain and track all systems and inventory
- Identify market and product trends and provide that feedback to the Clinical Sales Manager
- Remain well organized at all times to ensure the smooth delivery of our products within the operating room
- Support the launch plans and adoption of new Intellijoint products, rolling out those strategies within your accounts
- Identify issues and work cross functionally to find resolutions
- Coordinate access to customers for Intellijoint employees as required
Skills and Experience to Enable Success:
- Degree in a related engineering function, specifically biomedical engineering, nursing, life sciences, biology, kinesiology or a related discipline
- Exposure to the operating room in some fashion
- Always learning, deliberate with time
- Exceptional ability to professionally persuade as part of a sales strategy
- Ability to easily understand technology and articulate its value clearly
- Adaptable with the ability to relate to stakeholders on multiple levels
Physical Job Requirements:

- Frequent 2-handed lifting of up to 40 lbs. from floor to chair/table and from one to another surface at approximately the same level
- Sitting, standing and/or walking for up to eight plus hours per day
- Environmental exposures include eye protection, infectious disease and radiation
- Ability to wear 7-9 lbs of lead for extended periods of time while in the Operating Room
- Frequent bending/stooping, squatting and balance
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in relation to travel and operating a personal computer.
- Ability to travel throughout the territory extensively with ease (must have access to a car)
- Must be able to drive approximately 80% of the time within assigned territory
- Clinical Specialists are required to be within their assigned territory each day to be available as unscheduled needs arise
- Clinical Specialists are periodically required to work weekends, evenings and nights. Clinical Specialists serve as a primary resource for scheduled and on-call assignments
- Must have a valid driver's license and active vehicle insurance policy
