Why does the job exist?
This position is the network and security administrator for the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR). The position is responsible for managing and supporting DVR's WAN/LAN networks including agency firewalls, switches, Meraki access points and routers. This position is also responsible for ensuring adherence to security policies and procedures, mitigation efforts for threats found from penetration scans, and ensuring change management procedures are followed by staff and vendors. The position will also work closely with the server administrator as a backup and also to configure and implement GPO's, Active Directory, DNS and domain controller changes and other server administration tasks.
How does it get done?
This position will scan and monitor web content/file filtering/intrusion prevention/web traffic logs, manage and reviewing system log data, define and maintain access control lists, monitor network bandwidth and connectivity, run vulnerability scans, keep documentation up to date, identify and correct network, server, and connectivity issues. Also, maintain the security of the network infrastructure, perform regular hardening tasks based upon best practices and identified vulnerabilities, and recommend network improvements for performance and security reasons. Provide end user support as needed, administer and support video conferencing and perform daily operational activities as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate will possess the following:
- Working knowledge of Cisco firewalls and routers and a high degree of experience with remote access tools for administration of various networking devices (Firewalls, routers and switches).
- Experience in IT security.
- Experience with both network and server administration.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering or similar technical degree and two (2) years of experience in network administration. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Office Setting, Exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage. Must be able to lift 25 lbs, Overnight travel, after hours and weekend work may be required. Will be required to work in noisy settings (server rooms).
