Asplundh Tree Expert LLC is the preeminent leader in the United States in providing professional and cost-effective vegetation management and other utility related services. Since its founding in 1928, Asplundh has earned its reputation for providing top quality, cost-effective line clearance services to electric utilities and municipalities throughout North America. Safety management on the job is also an integral component of the business that clearly distinguishes Asplundh. With about 35,000 employees serving customers, Asplundh s equipment and people resources are unequaled in the industry. Over the last 90 years, the company has remained privately owned and operated by the founding Asplundh family and their descendants. Asplundh remains in very strong financial health and it is poised to continue to perform at a high level. In just the last 10 years, revenues have grown from $2.2 billion to over $3.5 billion.
Line clearance services (i.e. keeping tree branches away from overhead utility lines and rights-of-way) provided to utility companies and local and state municipalities is still the core of Asplundh s business, accounting for two-thirds of revenues. Customers include hundreds of utilities and municipalities around the country, and Asplundh has the right equipment to handle any vegetation management program, such as distribution line clearance trimming and removals, transmission right-of-way trimming, selective and controlled use of herbicides, right-of-way clearing for new service, and emergency storm service.
In addition to line clearance, Asplundh provides a much wider range of specialized services including utility construction, pole maintenance, street lighting and traffic controls, meter services and underground locating through its wholly owned subsidiary Utilicon Solutions, Inc.
Over the last 2 years, the Company has entered Landscape Management by acquiring small companies in key geographic areas. Landscape Management is a larger overall market than Vegetation Management and Utility Construction and is based on similar operating principles of managing people and equipment in the execution of recurring work. The Company expects to continue to expand in this space through acquisition and organic growth.
