Facebook designs, builds, leases and operates the most innovative and efficient data centers in the world. Developing, operating and managing the data center infrastructure and facilities the "right" way is synonymous with ensuring high uptime, capacity availability, flexibility and capital and operational cost efficiency in a safe working environment. Facebook is seeking an engineer to research and analyze data related to our environmental and water programs for our global data centers. Civil and/or environmental technical expertise as well as research and data visualization skills are required for this position. This position is a full-time 12 week internship located in our Menlo Park headquarters.
Support development of data management tools for our environmental and water programs
Research, collection, analysis, and visualization of environmental and water technical data (i.e., water use, wastewater discharge, air emissions, etc.)
Research environmental regulatory and policy initiatives that may our affect data centers
Monitoring and tracking environmental goals and obligations across our global data centers for pre-construction, construction, and operational activities (i.e., monitoring of water and wastewater quality and quantity)
Support the development of Integrated Water Management Plans for our data centers
Develop training and educational tools regarding environmental goals, compliance and awareness
Support the environmental team on budget, schedule, and document control
Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship/co-op
Obtaining Master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or other related field
Highly skilled in database software, such as excel
Studying with concentration in hydrology, water resources, or related field
Experience with GIS software
Experience with database software, data science, and visualization tooling (SQL, tableau, MATLAB)
