TITLE: Plymouth Area Sexual Assault Counselor/Advocate
SALARY: Depends on Experience
REPORTS TO: Director of Survivor Services
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
DUTIES: The Plymouth Area Sexual Assault Counselor will provide crisis intervention counseling and support to survivors of sexual violence in the Greater Plymouth Health Imperatives Region
Provide crisis counseling, support and intervention to survivors of sexual violence.
Maintain a client caseload.
Coordinate clinical coordination (i.e.: manage internal referrals, intakes and assignment of clients)
Provide day to day hotline coverage as needed.
On-call / after hour’s staff back up coverage.
Provide individual and group crisis counseling to survivors of sexual assault.
Work closely with the program manager to ensure comprehensive advocacy, referrals and case management services are provided when requested and/or appropriate.
Accompany victims of crime to legal proceedings, including, but not limited to police departments to file complaints, district court for restraining orders, criminal trials, probate and family court hearings.
Transport clients as appropriate.
Provide community outreach and education to build referral sources and volunteer base;
Participate in staff meetings and required clinical supervision.
Participate in community events and meetings as relevant to the position and increasing client capacity.
Maintain up-to-date client files, statistical data, billing information and monthly reports.
Work collaboratively with community partnerships at co-locations in Quincy and Plymouth, MA
Any other duties assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree/pursuing Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field, at least one year experience working with vulnerable and diverse populations. Ability to maintain flexible schedule in accordance with program needs; evenings and/or weekend emergency responses will be required. Superior understanding of trauma and its affects within the dynamics of sexual violence. Demonstrated successes in individual and group counseling sessions with diverse clients and diverse client needs. Strong communication skills and the ability to facilitate small and large group meetings. Travel is required, a valid driver’s license, registration, auto insurance and a safe driver’s record.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bilingual/ Bicultural preferred.
