The Vice President of Sales oversees all sales and marketing strategies for the business ensuring alignment with the organizations objectives towards success. This position is responsible for overseeing all ticketing, corporate partnerships, marketing and promotions for baseball and events, along with community relations, guest services and some administrative functions.

The Vice President of Sales represents the organization as a goodwill ambassador while always embodying The Whitecaps Way and positively representing the image of the West Michigan Whitecaps and Fifth Third Ballpark.

Essential Duties and responsibilities of this job classification:
Responsible for excellence in performance and profitability of all sales and marketing efforts.
Guides and directs sales and marketing department leaders to ensure the success of those teams.
Collaborates with management team to implement strategies that achieve revenue and expense goals.
Works with team leaders to develop game-by-game and annual attendance forecasts using historical data and known variables.
Monitors and gauges client satisfaction by providing outstanding fulfillment and follow-through with customers and vendors to ensure their investments with the Whitecaps meet their expectations.
Responsible to review trade accounts.
Develop and maintain excellent external relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for select key vendors while always seeking maximum positive publicity for Whitecaps Baseball.
Oversees the production of all proof-of-performance materials, including: photos of signage and other elements, print samples, radio clips, affidavits, etc.
Establish and manage sales/fulfillment structure, as well as motivational/incentive programs for team.
Monitors cost/performance factors while influencing cost reduction and value improvement changes to enhance ability to meet cost objectives and other goals.
Responsible for all aspects of developing and managing departmental budget.
Entertain clients, prospective clients and community leaders and management at the ballpark and other venues.
Effectively represent all Whitecaps entities to the public, including attending meetings, trade shows, community networking, liaison activities, community events, conferences, league meetings, seminars when needed.
Oversees Guest Services Committee initiatives. Defines standard for good Customer/Vendor/Fan/Guest relations Coordinate promotional/sponsored activities to evolve and improve overall fan experience.
Work with Technology Administrator to plan for future growth and changes in technology to keep IT systems current and operating efficiently, with minimal disruption to daily business operations
Oversees weekly sales meeting, guest service, community relations and meets with direct staff as needed.
Maintain and support positive professional relationship with Major League Affiliate.
Partners with HR and responsible for all performance management/talent management of team.
Partners with HR to drive performance, talent succession planning and development of staff.
Other duties as assigned.

Education level:
Bachelor’s Degree in business, sales, public relations or other related field required.
Master’s Degree in Business Administration preferred

Certifications or special training needed:
Sales training preferred

Type of prior related experience:
3 years of demonstrated sales experience required
5 years of sales management experience required
Experience in baseball, event venue or sports industry preferred.
Ticketing and corporate partnership sales preferred.
