Summary of the Role / Purpose of the Job

Describe the reasons that justify the existence of the position. List the main areas of intervention.

Responsible for updating and improving process control systems both in our production and R&D areas. Working with equipment design and process engineers, this person will design and improve control systems of automated processes with the aim of making processes robust, repeatable and low-maintenance.

  • Experience in the design of Industrial Process Controls
  • Experience with design and installation of automated systems
  • Solid understanding of programming, specifically of PLC and HMI in a manufacturing environment
  • Aptitude for Hands on Electrical and Mechanical troubleshooting

Responsible for designing and implementing manufacturing processes, equipment, and plants (from pilot to fully operational) to achieve the production goals of the organization. Identifies and develops processes and equipment needed to produce specific products, parts, and components. Strong knowledge of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

General production 80%

- Reduces variation in manufacturing.

- Reduces per unit manufacturing costs year over year.

- Designs new manufacturing processes.

- Leads the team in conducting potential failure modes and effects analysis.

- Runs continuous improvement projects.

- Documents production using computer databases.

- Ingot/Wafer fabrication processing.

- Conducts root-cause analysis to reduce manufacturing defect rate.

- Trains technicians.

OHS 10%

- Applies safety rules and safe work methods.

- Responds to non-compliant methods and work accidents in real time, and immediately reports incidents to the Plant Manager and to the EHS Manager.

Quality/ISO 10%

- Ensures control of manufacturing process at all times by developing and implementing engineering and managerial controls.

- Develops product quality assurance processes and controls.

- Runs projects to improve manufacturing repeatability.
