The PM is essentially a “General Manager” who works closely with internal and external customers to understand true needs, who facilitates cross functional engineering teams to conceptualize, develop, and industrialize solutions, and who manages project schedules and P & Ls to ensure new products provide financial value to TE. Success will hinge on the PM’s ability to leverage his/her knowledge, project management and communications skills, and personal drive while effectively influencing a dynamic project team.

This position reports to the General Manager of the ISG subvertical business unit.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Manage all aspects of complex, high investment new product development projects including:
Gathering effective Voice of the Customer (VOC)/customer requirements
Identifying appropriate project tasks and resources
Developing project schedules
Assessing project risk and developing strategies to mitigate risk
Creating clear, concise business cases/justifications
Build and lead cross-functional development teams (local and global) to ensure effective and efficient use of resources and timely successful delivery of projects.
Create and manage project P&L, ensuring a balance of project cost, quality, and timeliness
Effectively communicate with customers, project team members, and stakeholders
Utilize data driven decision making methods and personal/team knowledge to quickly diagnose and address project problems
Communicate project status to Project Approval Committees (PAC) during and in between scheduled PAC meetings
Collaborate with various functions within and outside of the project team in order to effectively complete project tasks
Stay current on new technologies, market trends, and manufacturing techniques relative to the area of responsibility
Leading, managing and effectively presenting project status to all Stakeholders on a regular basis.
Driving passionately the development and scale-up through stage-gate reviews, ensuring milestone commitments are maintained.
Concurrent managing of multiple projects.
Travel as required.
Lead the transfer of the developed product into mass production.
Bachelor degree in a related field is required; MBA preferred.
Prior experience in product engineering, product management, new product development, and/or operations.
Management experience and/or leadership of cross-functional and/or global teams.
Experience in managing department and/or project budgets required
Working knowledge of order entry, demand management, purchasing, global costing, and engineering systems; ability to track all aspects of a project (customer order, product design, materials planning, purchase of components, manufacturing, shipping, billing, etc.)
Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and technologies relevant to the product being developed.
Experience in transitioning products to manufacturing.
Thorough understanding of the organization with respect to disciplines supporting the creation and industrialization of new products.
Proven effectiveness of interfacing with external customers
Demonstrated ability to leverage convergent and divergent techniques during product and process concept / designing.
Project management (PMP or equivalent) certification and demonstrated skills managing complex projects required.
Six Sigma Black Belt (Lean Design or DMAIC) certification required.
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team through a crisis and influence others without formal authority.
