The Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) program is looking for it's next enthusiastic and motivated Staff Software Engineer. This individual will work in a dynamic team environment performing software engineering tasks in support of the THAAD System Integration Laboratory (SIL).

The candidate must be able to interact well with peers, leadership, customers, and subcontractors. They must also possess the ability to support technical discussions and communicate in a clear and concise manner.

The candidate must be proficient in software design, development and maintenance. Must be proficient in C++, Java, Perl software languages and GUI development. Must also have working knowledge of Linux operating system in a user capacity.

The candidate should have solid & demonstrated experience with scientific, realtime, and concurrent multi-process/multi-thread/multi-core computing. In addition, the candidate must be able to work with and modify existing code per mission requirements.

Tasks include:
  • Supporting the SIL's Certified Principle Engineers and engineering team.
  • Planning, conducting, and coordinating software development activities.
  • Designing, developing, documenting, testing, and debugging software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to mission problems.
  • Applying the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Correcting program errors, preparing operating instructions, compiling documentation of program development, and analyzing system capabilities to resolve program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
  • Ensuring software standards are met.
Typically has 9 - 15 years of professional experience.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited college or equivalent experience.
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Proficient in C++, Java, Perl, and Linux programming languages and GUI development.
  • Working knowledge of Linux operating system.
Desired Skills:
  • Familiarity with the THAAD weapon system.
  • Active DOD Secret clearance.
  • Proficient in scientific, realtime, and concurrent multi-process/multi-thread/multi-core computing.
  • Willing to work across multiple lab software related disciplines:
  • Data analysis products along with its associated software upgrades and maintenance.
  • Lab runtime software trouble shooting, lab runtime software upgrades and maintenance.
  • Willing to become a quasi THAAD system engineer along with being a software engineer.
  • Experience in 3D graphics, Satellite Tool Kit (STK) MATLAB and PC software development.
  • Proficient in software design, development and maintenance.
  • Working knowledge in contemporary scripting languages such as Perl and/or Python.
  • Working knowledge of Java software language.
  • Software debugging skills.
  • Data analysis skills.
  • Working knowledge of software version control system, preferably IBM Rational (ClearCase & ClearQuest).
  • Demonstrated understanding of software development practices.
