Position 2: Assistant Classroom Teacher (BSCCLC Teacher)
Direct Supervisor(s): Leadership Team-Director, Assistant Director, Site Supervisor
Work Hours: Varies by person
Qualifications:
- Be at least 18 years of age, possessing a high school diploma or GED
- Pass a criminal and child maltreatment background check
- Be certified in infant/child CPR and First Aid.
- Be physically and emotionally equipped to work with young children.
BSCCLC Center Philosophy and Program Expectations:
- Demonstrate Christian love to children, families, and other staff members.
- Promote teamwork
- Attend scheduled staff meetings
- Acquire 20 hours of educational training annually
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before class begins and stay until supervision of the last child in your classroom has been arranged.
- Enforce health and safety practices
Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to):
Interactions with Families and Staff:
- Communicate effectively with other adults in the program
- Demonstrate respect for Families and co-workers
- Work as part of a team with concern for the entire program.
- Distribute written communication about classroom/program happenings at least once a month.
Interactions with Children:
- Assist children in self-help skills
- Utilize appropriate child guidance
- Encourage language development through activities, songs, books and other means
- Display positive interaction through communication, actions, contact, and responsiveness
Classroom Responsibilities:
- Utilize and makes accessible developmentally appropriate learning materials
- Follow cleaning and sanitizing procedures
- Help to arrange classroom in such a manner as to encourage children to explore and discover.
Activities and Environment
- Conduct Family/teacher conferences in classroom when needed
- Maintain a clean, organized and inviting classroom environment
- Use the outdoors as part of the learning experience
- Implement curriculum and other learning experiences
Health, Safety and Emergency Procedures:
- Has a thorough knowledge of and follow emergency plans
- Understand and follow all child supervision policies and procedures
- Abide by all health and safety standards
- Check children for signs of illness or accidents
- Abide by policies and procedures as outlined in the Brick Street Childcare and Learning Center Family and Employee’s Handbooks in accordance to DHS licensing standards and Better Beginnings requirements.
Work Ethic and Professional Responsibilities:
- Maintain a professional appearance
- Meet program requirements for attendance
- Exhibit good judgment and independence
- Show initiative and is open to new ideas
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $13.00 per hour
