Full Job Description
Senior Scientist, R&D will elaborate and validate a strategic plan under the direction of the Chief Visionary Officer to address existing needs and strengthen the Company's competitive edge. This role will work closely with the Chief Visionary Officer to draft strategic initiatives, approaches, and plans and will validate the approach by implementing proof of concept to near production-ready code as appropriate. This role will work with business development to procure leading edge technology as appropriate. This role will work with colleagues in Product Development and Management to transfer knowledge, learning, documentation, presentations, and code from such leading edge initiatives to enable these operational teams to develop and release extensions to existing products or to develop and release new products.
Develop detailed plans describing both short and long-term strategies that will help the organization meet its business objectives under the direction of the Chief Visionary Officer
Develop novel informatics tools and software solutions to validate strategies as appropriate
Serve as the senior scientist/engineer/bioinformatician/clinical informatics specialist when coordinating product development with product managers, product owners, engineers and architects to ensure sound application of transdisciplinary concepts spanning the biomedical informatics, engineering, and statistical disciplines
Interpret quality control and quality assurance data
Collaborate with engineering, bioinformatics, and scientific/medical colleagues and bridge these disciplines to solve complex problems
Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics or biological computational sciences ,Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics
8+ years of bioinformatics or computational experience in academia or industry after postgraduate training
Experience in working with clinicians, scientists, and engineers to collaboratively to develop novel genome and multi-omic software and/or analytic products
Excel in genomic analysis tools and pipelines and genome annotation databases
Deep experience in clinical data modeling, ontologies, and EMR/EHR data access and interchange technologies and initiatives
Experienced with cloud computing
Strong problem-solving skills
Designed, developed, deployed and maintained enterprise-grade, cloud-based, web applications
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and the ability to rapidly learn and adopt new technologies as required for initiatives
Experience in one or more programming languages
Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs using microservice
Experience with testing methodologies and robust testing approaches
Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies to support enterprise web applications
Worked with a globally distributed development team
Significant experience with Linux operating systems
2-3 years Experience in NGS data analysis preferred
