In partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, MobilizeGreen is seeking a Communications and Data Support Resource Assistant intern to assist in the Washington Office (WO) of the US Forest Service. The Volunteers & Service program position focus will be communications, data, and information, including social media and online presence.
The U.S. Forest Service engages individuals in over 100,000 volunteer and paid engagement opportunities for non-federal employees annually. The Washington Office (WO) Volunteers & Service program of work provides guidance, resources, and support to field units to implement these projects. As part of Volunteers & Service, the incumbent will be exposed to a challenging, rewarding, and rapidly growing slate of projects targeted to expand partnerships and shared stewardship throughout the agency.

Full time (40 hours/week) for 12 months
Beginning mid-May 2018
$500 per week stipend
Monthly housing allowance
2-year non-competitive hiring certificate (after successful completion of 960 hours)
Hands on learning and job training experience
Duties & Responsibilities
Assist in managing updates to the Volunteers & Service reporting database
Create documentation to engage program participants in volunteer and paid opportunities
Develop communications such as e-newsletters and briefing papers to communicate program requirements and enhancements
Develop communication toolkits for key initiatives including web and print materials
Support recruitment within the administrative support for the program of work.
Secondary duties involve supporting the overall service program of work, data analysis and management, and other administrative duties as needed to ensure continuity and cohesiveness among the Volunteers & Service team.
The WO is located in Washington, D.C. Telework once a week is an option for this position.
Experience & Qualifications
Ability to multi-task several projects while being timely in execution
Ability to summarize large quantities of information into relevant facts in order to capture the key points and implications.
Excellent writing and oral communication
Close attention to detail
Thrives in a fast-paced working environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, especially Word and Excel;
Proficiency in Adobe Suite, especially InDesign and Illustrator preferred
Good data management
Strong presentation and organization abilities
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
The work environment presents normal, every-day risks or discomforts typical of offices, meeting rooms, field, and travel situations. Local travel in the metropolitan areas and locations outside the office may be required on a limited basis. The work requires the RA be flexible and be able to adapt to a variety of work settings, both indoors and outdoors. There may be lifting and moving boxes and equipment up to 25 pounds. At special events such as recruitment/outreach/hiring events, the RA may be standing and engaged in active discussions for long periods.
Ability to relocate to Washington D.C.
