A member of the Human Resources team, the Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for coordinating the recruiting, hiring, and onboarding activities of Communities In Schools of Central Texas towards securing and retaining a diverse workforce of high-quality, high-potential professionals to help fulfill the organization’s mission. The Talent Acquisition Specialist works to ensure that recruiting, hiring and onboarding processes are efficient, productive, streamlined, and effective for applicants and hiring managers. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will use the CIS website, social networking sites, resumes databases, professional networks, and other means of communication to actively build the CIS of Central Texas employer brand and build talent pipelines.
Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration or related field and a minimum of three years’ experience in general human resources including candidate sourcing, recruiting and onboarding.
The Talent Acquisition Specialist must possess knowledge of employment and labor law, have a deep understanding of the organization and its mission, possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills including social media fluency, experience using applicant tracking systems (ATS), and hands-on experience with full-cycle recruiting using various interview techniques and evaluation methods. The Specialist must also have a demonstrated history of integrity and confidentiality, attention to detail, accuracy and professional presentation; demonstrate excellent customer service and problem-solving skills; demonstrate initiative, follow through, solid judgment and personal accountability; and have experience working cross-functionally in a dynamic, fast-paced organization while working on multiple tasks simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
Some out of town travel and occasional evening and weekend work will be required. Reliable transportation is essential.
Partner with the Chief Human Resources Officer and department managers to determine staffing needs
Create requisitions and advertise job openings
Actively source and recruit applicants using a variety of methods including, but not limited to, attending local and out-of-town career fairs, posting positions on job boards, utilizing social media networking sites, etc.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with career centers at colleges and universities with degree programs relevant to the requirements of CIS positions
Coordinate social media-based employer branding activities with the Director of Communication
Assess candidate information, including resumes and contact details, using our applicant tracking system
Perform in-person and phone interviews with applicants
Coordinate interviews with hiring managers/hiring teams
Administer appropriate skills assessments
Perform reference checks and background screening
Extend job offers and coordinate start dates for new employees and subsequent orientation and onboarding processes
Maintain relationships with both internal and external clients to ensure staffing goals are achieved
Stay current on the organization’s structure, personnel policies and procedures, and federal, state and laws regarding employment practices
Complete timely reports on employment recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention activity
Conduct exit interviews with terminating employees
Assist CHRO with special projects or assignments
Participate in the CIS team approach to problem solving
Promote and maintain organizational culture, standards, and systems
