Job Purpose:
Under the direction of the Mass Participation Manager, the Rugby Development Program Manager creates and manages programs and positions responsible for attracting new members to USA Rugby’s organizations, sub-unions, clubs and teams. These programs include Rookie Rugby, Try on Rugby and management of the Rugby Development Officers. Taking direction from the strategic plan, the manager’s responsibility is to grow the game of rugby from a grassroots level across the United States.

Essential Job Functions:
Manage the Rugby Development Officer (RDO) Program
Set, track and evaluate goals and outcomes for rugby in markets coordinated by RDOs.
Manage the satellite rugby development officer’s day to day activities.
Oversee programs and resources utilized to grow rugby in each market.
Coordinate and deliver the Rugby Development School at the National Development Summit.
Develop tools and resources for tracking a national corps of contractor work and outcomes (Salesforce, etc.).
Rookie Rugby
Support delivery programs designed to expand the market for flag rugby develop by the Mass Participation manager.
Produce educational and promotional content for flag rugby coaches and parents.
Develop content for
Manage the sale and inventory of Rookie Rugby equipment and grants.
Girls and Women’s Rugby Programs
Support development program for girls and women, in partnership with outside organizations and internal departments.
Support tracking of growth of pre-high school rugby in the USA by contact level, gender, and market.
Liaise with State Rugby Organizations to develop effective development goals and programs.

Desired Outcomes:
Engage a dynamic team of rugby development officers across the USA.
Provide quality programs for introductory rugby across all divisions and genders of Community rugby.
Contribute to an increase in the number of pre-high school playing rugby members for USA Rugby.
Deliver comprehensive strategies to grow the grassroots demographic through sub- unions and clubs.
Provide assistance to youth and high school coaches, administrators and players through the provision of consistent customer service and expertise of all things USA Rugby

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Regional Development Officers, nationwide.
Development Officers linked to state organizations and geographic unions
Intern candidates

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with the sport of rugby, preferably on youth and high school level.
Strong passion for the growth of developmental rugby.
Willingness to build and grow relationships throughout USA Rugby’s communities.
Ability to wear multiple professional hats.
Computer proficiency: Microsoft Office, SalesForce (or similar). Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
Outstanding writing/editing skills.

Required Education & Experience
3-5 years of experience in sports administration.
Experience supervising remote staff.
Willingness to travel and work weekends.
Management of a remote team of motivated individuals

Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Sports Management or equivalent field.
Experience as a rugby player, coach, administrator or referee or like experience in a different sport.
Experience in design, WordPress, SalesForce (or similar)
