Job Title: Municipal Bond Trader

The Global Trading Team at DWS is a key part of the investment process and has a primary goal of achieving best execution results for the firm’s clients. The team covers a wide range of products (across asset class) and markets globally. Trading is seeking a candidate to join the Americas Trading team in Boston.
While there is broad connectivity to all Fixed Income products (e.g. Credit, Rates and Related, etc.), you will primarily focus on trading municipal bonds for mutual funds, institutional accounts, retail SMA’s, and ETF’s.
Execute portfolio manager-generated municipal bond trades in compliance with trading procedures and portfolio guidelines
Develop and apply trading skills and knowledge of trading relationships for credit sector, specifically municipal issues across credit, maturity, and coupon/call structures while always ensuring best execution
Participate in investment meetings and provide market insight, commentary and help develop trade ideas to enhance portfolio performance pursuant to client investment goals and constraints
Monitor relative valuations of taxable and tax-exempt municipals with the goal of identifying input and trade opportunities to the PM Team
Communicate relevant trading and market information to municipal bond team as well as broader asset management fixed income platform
Develop and maintain constructive relationships with external counterparties, internal portfolio management and credit research teams
Maintain up-to-date knowledge on new trading trends; work to keep municipal bond desk at the forefront of electronic and automated trading practices/opportunities
Assist with idea generation for use in internal meetings and client presentations
Help with challenges to the pricing service when necessary
Successful relationship and interactions with Operations, Technology, Compliance, Risk and Audit
Relevant experience in trading municipal bonds
Strong written and oral communication skills
Adherence to the highest ethical and fiduciary standards
Attention to detail to ensure knowledge of and adherence to client guidelines
Ability to communicate effectively and with others in a team atmosphere
Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and trouble-shoot
Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment while maintaining good temperament and respectful manner
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes - BRS Aladdin a plus
Bachelor’s degree required - CFA/MBA is a plus
