We are a 292-bed acute care hospital, located in the upbeat, North Chesterfield area, a short drive from Chesterfield Town Center, offering an abundance of restaurants and shops. As our Throughput Coordinator, Registered Nurse, you will work closely with the Director of the Central Resource Pool, Nursing Supervisors, and Nursing Leadership in performing the following:
  • Coordinate and facilitate the expedient appropriated placement of patients.
  • Have daily oversight of the throughput of patients from admission to discharge.
  • Make bed assignments based on existing workloads on units, impact on nurse/patient ratios and required scopes of care.
  • Secure information of bed status on a unit-to-unit basis, including potential discharges, through walking rounds.
  • Coordinate the discharge of patients (impacting a decline in loss and creating beds) with case management, discharge planning, and available assessment staff.
  • Perform admissions, transfers, and discharges to facilitate patient throughput.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, management, and leadership staff.
  • Communicate admission information as required.
  • Facilitate processing of deceased patients for daily morgue check.
  • Serve as backup for the Nursing Supervisor as needed.

    • Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program (required)
    • BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program at an accredited school of Nursing (preferred)
    • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Virginia as a Registered Nurse (required)
    • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider (required)
    • 5 years of current nursing experience (required)
    • 2 years of experience supervising others (required)
