The Gas, Power & Energy Futures (GPE) group at IHS Markit focuses our research and analysis on some of the most pressing questions facing the energy sector: What is the role of natural gas in a clean energy future? How will new technology cost trajectories impact existing assets? How will market designs adapt to the energy transition, and what technologies will support the shift in fuels? Our teams are located in 14 different locations globally—the Americas, Asia Pacific, and Europe—working on some of the most exciting questions that will shape the future of global energy.

Eligibility: Our next internship program runs through the summer of 2020. For our GPE Internship opportunities we’re looking for students who are enrolled in a graduate program degree (or equivalent), and due to complete their studies and be available for a full-time graduate role commencing in the summer of 2021.
We want to build a pipeline of exceptional emerging leaders. If you excel in your internship, you could have an opportunity to return to IHS Markit as part of our full-time graduate program.
Understanding the latest trends and leveraging sharp analytical skills and specialized energy industry expertise, our analysts deliver the rich insights that guide our clients in long-term decision making. If you are passionate about building the story behind the data and becoming an industry or product specialist, then this internship is well-suited to you. Duties within the GPE internship may involve:
Organizing and maintaining energy databases;
Identifying and discerning policy and commercial market trends in global and regional gas and power markets;
Tracking and analyzing energy policies including market rules and climate and environmental policies, among others;
Tracking key energy projects and company activities by conducting primary research online and contacting key players to verify critical information;
Supporting client and internal administrative activities.

To be eligible for a Summer Internship, you will:
Bachelor’s degree in economics, engineering, statistics, or industry-related field required
Enrolled in a graduate program with anticipated 2021 graduation
This program is aimed at students with 0-6 months relevant work experience
Demonstrated passion or interest in one or more of our key industries
Excellent communication skills
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
An ability to learn and adapt quickly in a rapidly changing environment
The ability to build strong working relationships in a collaborative setting
Be legally eligible to work for the duration of the program in the country for which you apply

You may be considered for multiple suitable roles throughout this process. If these roles fall within the same stream, you will be assessed during the same process. If the roles fall across multiple streams, you may be asked to complete different assessments aligned to those roles.
We recruit on a rolling basis and most of our assessment days are due to take place from January 2020. We recommend early application.
