Position Overview
Legg Mason’s Global Distribution organization is currently seeking a Head of Sales Training to join our team. This position may be based in our Stamford, CT, New York, NY or Baltimore, MD office.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of training lifecycle, to include training consultation for key stakeholders, supervision of ongoing training programs, development of new training programs, marketing and communications of programs, budget and resource management, reporting and maintenance of training records, and vendor management
Senior performance consultant leading efforts to partner with Sales Leadership to design and develop blended learning initiatives to support distribution strategy
Master facilitator & coach who can both lead workshops, sessions, and cross functional meetings, and coach others in facilitation excellence
Lead development of signature brand for trainee experience for both on demand and synchronous courses
Oversee content design and implementation of all Sales Training programming globally (classroom, virtual and mobile learning)
Create multi-year strategic plans and budgets to insure continued alignment to the business and meaningful evolution of sales training function in response to industry disruption
Define and manage budget, expense tracking and resource allocations required to successfully deliver against global agenda
Evaluate and measure the effectiveness of learning programs and their impact on the business using meaningful metrics to improve quality and business impact over time
Build strong partnerships with key stakeholders to drive the learning and development strategy, ensuring alignment with the firm’s business strategies.

Partner with:
  • Account Management team on training initiatives for client firms as part of firms Strategic Partner Firm strategy
  • HR Talent & Learning and HR Business Partners on the development of a functionally focused sales leadership program
  • HR Talent & Learning & Business Heads on strategy for professional development for Global Distribution employees
Oversee development of formal sales coaching program for development of high potential sales cohort
Contribute to the design and development of learning solutions
Work in partnership with the Global Sales & Distribution Management team, to promote best practices and assist with the implementation of other critical business initiatives
Oversee the ongoing management and improvement of learning technologies including the Learning Management System in partnership with IT & HR
Extensive domestic and international travel required

Qualifications:
BA required ; MBA and/or Coaching certificate strongly preferred
10+ years experience in coaching, learning and development
Experience managing sales training teams
Sales (regardless of industry) and / or Financial Services experience required
Series 7, 24 required / or willing to obtain both within first 12 months
Strong commercial orientation
Solution-oriented with strong interpersonal, consultative, communication and presentation skills
Ability to think strategically, make decisions and develop and implement new initiatives. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate team’s vision and strategy
Leadership presence to command a large audience and interact confidently with senior executives
Ability to effectively partner and influence at all levels and across global teams
Strong analytical skills; ability to assess situations using both qualitative and quantitative factors
Strong organization, attention to detail and time management skills in a multicultural and international environment
Ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast paced, highly matrixed environment
