Summary: Repair and replace tires, do fleet checks, road service calls, after hours calls and minor service and repairs on Commercial Customer vehicles.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED with experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Valid driver’ license and clean driving history.
- Prior work record indicating dependability and conscientiousness.
- Must understand and follow general operating instructions and safety procedures under general direction.
- Must write legibly, be able to read and verify information from work order to Customer vehicle including tire size, vehicle information and other Customer related information.
Essential Functions:
- Use all safety related PPE such as gloves, ear plugs, safety glasses and tire cages while doing any work.
- Drive service trucks to Customer locations or road locations to provide fleet services and/or respond to emergency calls.
- Raise vehicles using hydraulic jacks.
- Unbolt wheels from vehicles and remove them, using lug wrenches and other hand and power tools.
- Separate tires from wheels, using rubber mallets and metal bars or mechanical tire changers.
- Inspect tire casings for defects, such as holes and tears.
- Seal punctures in tubeless tires by inserting adhesive material and expanding rubber plugs into punctures, using hand tools.
- Reassemble tires onto wheels.
- Identify and inflate tires correctly for the size and ply.
- Place wheels on balancing machines to determine counterweights required to balance wheels

- Hammer required counterweights onto rims of wheels.
- Remount wheels onto vehicles
- Locate punctures in tubeless tires by visual inspection or by immersing inflated tires in water baths and observing air bubbles.
- Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects.
- Rotate tires to different positions on vehicles, using hand tools.
- Assist mechanics and perform other duties as directed.
- Inflate inner tubes and immerse them in water to locate leaks.
- Notifies supervisor of any quality or safety issues.
- Maintains effective interpersonal working relationships and functions as a team member.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Exposure to temperature changes, noise, fumes and mechanical, chemical, or electrical hazards.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to climb, bend, stoop, and squat frequently.
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Must have good body mechanics and manual dexterity.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds or more.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
