Custom job-shop manufacturer of retail fixtures is looking for a responsible Machine Setup/Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for safe setup and operation of metal manufacturing machinery and bringing ideas for improvement. OJT available for some specialty equipment that we use. The Setup Operator is responsible for setting up, troubleshooting, and operating the machinery including Punch Presses, Resistance Welders, Turret Presses, Press Brakes and other punching and forming machines. They will be expected to train other operators on the these machines and the check quality of products being setup. The setup operator will also be a leader on the floor and will work with all levels of the business including management and engineering on production related projects.
Key Result Areas
- Perform setups efficiently, minimizing scrap, downtime, and quality issues.
- Document setup procedures clearly to facilitate future training and standardization.
- Troubleshoot issues to identify and correct the root cause of the issue
- Identify and direct continuous improvement options in the department
Key Responsibilities & Job Content
- At least 3 years experience with metal fabrication machine set up; CNC operation and set up a plus
- Setup and operate key machines in the shop including Punch Presses, Resistance Welders, Turret Presses, Press Brakes and other punching and forming machines
- Make minor programming adjustments
- Ability to read engineering drawings and measure parts accurately using calipers.
- Standardize setup procedures and processes including documentation
- Change punches and dies needed for different setups.
- Flexibility to work on multiple machines in the different departments as needed.
- Operate safely and maintain 5S standards in the plant.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems to identify and correct the root cause
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
