The Social Media Marketing Associate is passionate about marketing and communications, in all its various and ever-changing forms. The Social Media Marketing Associate executes social media (paid and organic) and on-site marketing tasks and delivers tactical execution support to the Bay Area Discovery Museum (BADM). They will be a key member of the marketing team with goals to improve the on-site and digital visitor experience, increase earned revenue growth (daily admissions, membership, summer camp and preschool admissions), and grow awareness of the BADM brand and all of its products. The Social Media Marketing Associate will, when required, assist with other marketing campaigns and initiatives dictated by workflow and deliverables.
Assist in the development and execution of strategies, tactics, and campaigns to meet marketing and communications department goals and deliverables.
Through social media and on-site marketing, grow awareness of all of BADM’s offerings, including the museum, on-site camps, school and community programs, research and advisory division, and on-site preschool.
Assist in the development of social media (paid and organic) and on-site marketing strategies.
Serve as the main executor and driver of museum’s paid and organic social media and on-site marketing tactics.
Create, write, and produce engaging content, including photos, text, and video, for social media channels, such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
Create ads, build audiences, and set ad budgets for paid social media advertising for Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter.
Collect, track, report on, and analyze key social media marketing analytics.
Monitor and respond to customer service inquiries and issues on BADM’s social media channels and review-based sites.
Work closely with the Digital Marketing Associate to ensure alignment and consistency between social and web presence.
Work with the Communications Manager and Digital Marketing Associate to stay updated on industry news and conversations to build a comprehensive content calendar used for external communications.
Work with the Communication Manager to ensure content fits brand tone/voice and reinforces brand positioning.
Create and maintain schedule of on-site advertising displays and signage.
Write copy for all on-site advertising and work with Graphic Designer to produce on-site advertising assets. ?
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic training and professional experience in marketing, communications, and/or business.
1 – 4 years of experience in a social media focused marketing role.
High-energy, positive personality with an appreciation for a fast-moving, agile organization.
Photography and video editing/production experience with Adobe Creative Cloud.
Experience with Facebook Ads Manager and Facebook Pixel.
Basic design and layout skills and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience with Google Analytics.
Strong organizational skills with outstanding attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team and across departments.
Openness to constructive criticism and the ability to work as a team to produce the best results.
Desire to learn and continuously improve.
Commitment to the museum’s mission and interest in childhood development, creativity, parenting, and STEM knowledge.
Experience with Google Tag Manager a plus.
Experience using web content management systems and basic understanding of HTML a plus.
