While the public only sees the front desk and service personnel in a hotel, entire public relations and marketing teams work behind the scenes to make sure the hotel is presented in its best light at all times. The person who organizes and carries out many of the details is the PR/Marketing Coordinator. Working both internally with other departments, and externally through the media, the PR/Marketing Coordinator helps the Marketing Director highlight the hotel's positive news.

The PR Coordinator shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times. S/he will be responsible for exemplifying the Hotel's Culture.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Collaborates with marketing, human resources, restaurants, golf and sales teams to implement strategic public image campaigns to enhance and protect the way the resort is portrayed in the media, as well as to guests.

Writes and distributes press releases, event invitations or requested photos.

Creates and distributes an ongoing file of all press releases, pitches and media/influencer stay requests.

Secures partnerships with a multitude of organizations, influencers and key players in the business community to target our key demographic.

Maintains the PR calendar and keeps everyone in the department advised of meetings and activities.

Maintains media relationships. It's essential to have an active list of media representatives who need to be informed of the hotel's news and events.

Ensures the media list is up-to-date, as people move around quickly in such jobs.

Pitches story ideas keep the hotel in the news, arranges press interviews and responds to requests from the press. Must be adept at using PR Newswire and any other PR tools, as well as Facebook, Twitter and any and all of the newest social media used by the hotel's target audience.

Assists with special events. Invite the media through press releases and be on-site for the event, which sometimes requires working evenings and weekends, even outdoors.

Must be able to operate and navigate social media networking websites with decorum and discretion and maintain calm under pressure in a crisis.

Effectively manage internal and external property contests, participation and prizes.

Team member is held accountable for all duties of this job and other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism or another business field.

Strong verbal and written communications skills.

Enjoy a fast-paced environment and thrive under what can be stressful situations.

Minimum of 3-4 years' experience in public relations or communications with demonstrated success.

Experience developing and managing budgets.

Demonstrated successful experience writing press releases, making presentations and negotiating with media.

Social Media Expertise - Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter and emerging platforms.

Experience working directly with strong CEO types.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent grammar and spelling skills is required.

Must have excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to work with team members on every level.

Must have the maturity and confidence to be the property's ambassador by positively reflecting and exemplifying the hotel culture.

Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.

Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to sit for long periods of time.

Must be able to frequently stand up or move within and outside the facility.

Must be able to carry or lift items weighting up to 25 pounds.

Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements consistent with office work.

Must be able to frequently handle office supplies and equipment to maintain the facility.
