Leads and directs the development of the future state physical store look/feel and branded environments by managing internal staff and professional external design firms. Establishes guardrails for all design to be in concert with the company strategy and aspirations to be a best in class modern retailer. Push boundaries with internal executives and partners to create the most up to date and cost efficient designs which can be adapted by the base business across many assets. Seen as an internal Design Director to find balance between good design and scalable/value engineered environments.
Directs the design direction through the development of overall look and feel of the permanent and semi-permanent branded environment scope for site specific retail and non-retail projects, adapts and evolves Company Unified Design Standards, Guidelines, and Business Unit requests. Communicates deviations, in alignment with Company business objectives.
Understands, aligns, and contributes to enterprise wide strategy and vision. Participates in establishing annual divisional goals, setting the business strategy and driving organizational vision and creative direction.
Drives business objectives at the highest possible quality and within established budgets. Uses a balance of innovation, analytics, and feedback to establish policies and procedures to ensure best in class customer service for our internal and external partners.
Leads change management of the Company Unified Design Standards, and strategizes the management of the release of quarterly updates to guidelines, scope of work documents, templates, drawings, specifications and cut sheets.
Drives continuous improvement processes and leads internal and external business partners to value engineer in order to optimize total cost of ownership. Advocates continuous feedback to Development Team.
Leads work cross-functionally to assure designs are within budget and best represent the brand identity.
Performs as the subject matter expert in the negotiation/ consultant/ contracts and leads teams of licensed building design professionals retained for the development of the Company Unified Design Standards. OMIT grey text. Performs as the SME in the stated discipline supporting current technical needs & requirements to the overall development program assuring best in class design.
Creatively drives the creation or adaption of Company Unified Design Standards as it relates to Design Guidelines and Brand Guidelines.
Drives value engineering principles to lifecycle costs through Company Unified Design Standards.
Reports on progress and uses analytics lessons learned, and best practices from prior projects to re-inject learning's into the Company Unified Design Standards OMIT?

Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of experience in Architecture, Interior Design, Graphic Design and/or Fixture Design OR a High School diploma/GED and at least 9 years of experience in an Architecture, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Fixture Design, or other design related capacity.
Experience managing and working with branded environments, design, and construction including budgeting, estimating and scheduling.
Experience managing and working with construction plans and specifications.
Experience diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems
Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).
Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
At least 2 years of experience in building, maintaining and managing large (<$12m) capital budgets.
At least 2 years of experience working with and/or establishing project-related or construction budgets.
At least 3 years’ experience of direct leadership and/or cross functional team leadership
Experience directing the activities of and managing 3rd party professional design/strategy firm.
Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Master's degree in Architecture, Business Administration, or design related field.
Certified as a Licensed Architect.
Certified as a Licensed Interior Designer.
Certification in Project Management (PMP) as granted by PMI.
Member of USGBC and LEED Accredited Professional.
Experience in retail / healthcare/grocery industry.
Experience on both the owner and consultant side of management.
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization and industry community. Act as owners representative for public representations of design thinking
