PreK-2nd grade Co-Teacher: El Paso

IDEA Public Schools - El Paso, TX3.4

IDEA co-teachers learn instructional strategies and develop their teaching skills in order to provide highly effective instruction to IDEA students. Successful co-teachers who have a bachelor’s degree and are highly qualified under NCLB (usually by passing a state certification exam) are eligible to and frequently become regular Academy (elementary) classroom teachers as vacancies arise. This is an ideal position for a recent college graduate looking to gain experience in teaching or for someone who has at least 48 college hours and wants challenging work and to advance in his or her education career. IDEA Co-Teachers assist primarily in grades Pre-K through 2nd grade.

IDEA DI co-teachers are directly responsible for student instruction under the guidance of an IDEA teacher and assistant principal of instruction. DI is a model that emphasizes carefully planned lessons focused on learning in small increments. DI co-teachers use clear instruction and always teach to mastery. This means that teachers do not move on in the lesson until students have grasped the content they need to know. Groups are organized by level, so that every student can learn at their own pace. The goal is for each student to be on-level across all subjects. No student is left behind.
