The Target Discovery team is seeking an innovative and motivated Scientist, with deep experience in molecular biology, to contribute to the design and development of AAV vectors for the treatment of a plethora of genetic conditions using Gene Therapy. A successful candidate will work independently and cross-functionally with various teams to perform benchwork that supports discovery efforts and contribute to IND-enabling studies. The scope of work includes the design, execution, and analysis of in vitro and ex vivo experiments using novel AAV vectors. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and creative, with a desire to succeed at the highest level in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Execute in vitro and ex vivo pharmacology evaluation for new targets and technologies relevant for gene therapy in multiple therapeutic areas, including cell culture transfection/transduction, primary cell analysis, and various molecular readouts such as ELISA, ddPCR/qPCR, and western blot/JESS.

Support in vivo studies with molecular analysis of tissues for DNA, RNA, and protein readouts.

Evaluate target and technology feasibility and efficacy in cell lines and primary cells, including assay development and optimization.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of activities through meticulous lab notebook practices and contributions to reports.

Analyze, interpret, and present data, with the ability to clearly communicate results in written and oral formats; may need to incorporate data from other members in the Research team to interpret data.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and external groups to coordinate and drive complex studies.

Bachelors degree in cellular/molecular biology, virology, neuroscience, or related field with 1+ years of relevant biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience.

Experience with RNA (qPCR and ddPCR) and protein analyses (western blot, JESS and/or ELISA).

Demonstrated ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team and contribute within a highly collaborative environment

Exceptionally creative, organized, and detail-oriented

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to thoroughly document, interpret, and effectively present scientific data to other scientists and non-scientists

Lilly currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from between $69,000 to $123,200 and will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s qualifications for the role, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees, including eligibility to participate in a company-sponsored 401(k); pension; vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities).Of course, the compensation described above is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described above.
