Experienced Project Engineer/Estimator for Landscape, Irrigation, Site Development

American Landscape, Inc., a well-established commercial landscape and irrigation construction company has an immediate opening for a full-time Estimator in its Canoga Park office.

Accountability: The Estimator reports to and is accountable to the Estimating Manager/Chief Estimator. Those working closely with the Estimator are the following:

  • Purchasing Department
  • Sales Department
  • Operations Department
  • Estimating Department (individual estimators)

Essential Functions:

  • Review requests for estimates
  • Review documents and site
  • Request and obtain clarification of all questions, conflicts or omissions found in bid documents or at work site
  • Completion of takeoff for landscape, irrigation, and general site development scope
  • Produce a comprehensive estimate (utilizing the takeoff software OST and bidding software, Microsoft EXCEL) while maintaining a timely submittal. Present estimate to the Chief Estimator, report approach taken to prepare estimate and any concerns regarding the project
  • Check estimate for errors and/or omissions; incorporate appropriate exclusions and qualifications
  • Assist in finalizing prime contract bids to public agencies, as required
  • Develop and maintain resource information - material catalogs and specification sheets; vendor information; equipment specifications and usage; subcontractor information; MBE/WBE information

Essential/Required Abilities:

  • Related work experience as an estimator for landscape, irrigation and general site construction is highly desired
  • Valid drivers license
  • Fluent use of the English language, both written and spoken
  • Plant material & irrigation knowledge
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient with computer software - Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and On Center Software (OST).
  • Supervisory experience helpful
  • Ability to professionally represent Company with owners, general contractors, vendors, employees and the public
  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions
  • Ability to perform simple and repetitive tasks
  • Ability to maintain work pace appropriate to given work load
  • Ability to perform complex or varied tasks
  • Ability to accept and carry out responsibility for direction, control and planning
  • Detail Oriented, well organized, ambitious self-starter
  • Successfully pass employment background check
  • Negative results on pre-employment drug screen
