Acquisition Agent

A highly-motivated Acquisition Agent with a broad knowledge of procedures used to acquire real property interests for public utility/infrastructure projects including condemnation is required in the Houston area. This is a full time, permanent position supporting many projects concurrently. The successful candidate is able to multi-task and adept at producing accurate project deliverables on short notice.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Review projects for compliance with client policies and standards
  • Build client, industry and team relationships upholding the image of client and company
  • Oversee project goals and objectives, including: technical and production leadership, team development, industry leadership, market planning and business development and project delivery
  • Ensure projects are completed within budgetary and timeline constraints
  • Contact Landowners to provide an explanation of the project
  • Resolve title concerns and document the correspondence with landowners
  • Research public records, conduct field reviews, compose and assemble offer packages
  • Negotiate with the landowners or their representatives and prepare administrative settlements
  • Process payments and attend closings
  • Ability to read and analyze engineering drawing and right of way plans in order to properly explain the taking
  • Must be detail oriented and have excellent analytical skills to prepare compliance documentation and maintain files
  • Must possess a valid driver license and be willing to travel as dictated by the project
  • Demonstrate familiarity with TxDOT’s Right of Way Manual
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate clearly and concisely to prepare reports, specifications, applications, and correspondence
  • Must be knowledgeable with laws and regulations involving real estate transactions and Eminent Domain.

Licenses, Certifications, Credentials, or Other Requirements:

  • 4-year undergraduate degree, preferred
  • SR/WA or other IRWA Designation
  • Texas Real Estate License and/or Broker
  • A minimum of 2+ years of experience is required in work related to right of way or real estate services provided to public agencies
