Full Job Description
The Sr Mgr, Systems Engineering provides technical leadership to cross functional teams in the evaluation, design, development and integration of infrastructure automation and integration solutions into the Schwab environment. Prepares status and informational reports for presentation to senior management. Performs research and development of new technologies and product offerings for Systems Engineering. Performs analysis and value stream mapping of existing processes for the development of improved techniques and procedures. Guides development and documentation automation standards for use by the organization. Technologies in scope for this work are middleware, database, OS, virtualization, PaaS and IaaS, NSX and network automation. The role requires that the individual be a consensus builder that works to align Systems Engineering strategy and design with Schwab Architectural guidelines, application strategy and business goals. Standardizing process and documentation across system engineering.
What you are good at
Work as part of a cross functional team exploring technology changes that impact TDA & Schwab infrastructure.
Identify automation opportunities
Assure that new designs adhere to TDA & Schwab Architectural and Engineering standards.
Coordinate design activities across engineering silos to ensure a holistic approach to infrastructure design
Design and develop automation frameworks
Define automation standards and best practices
Investigating new technologies such as OpenStack that add or improve production capabilities.
Research, identify and evaluate technology solutions for adoption by Schwab
Communicate Systems Engineering strategic and tactical directions and goals through presentations to Management and Associates
Assist with communicating Schwab strategic technical direction by socializing message to engineering teams
Provide guidance and direction regarding automation best practices and standards
Assist Systems Engineering with VSM, Problem Solving and Metrics
What you have
Experience with the following: vCenter, vSpehre, Server virtualization, Unix\Linux, DBMS, Python, Ruby, Perl, SDLC, TCP/IP Networking, High Availability, Load Balancing and Firewalls.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
Knowledge of computer/network systems infrastructure requirements and standards.
Expert in infrastructure development
Proficient in modern programing languages
Able to design and develop infrastructure automation
