IHR’s CARF accredited treatment programs provide holistic interventions for hard to reach and high-risk individuals and families. Our mission is to develop a comprehensive continuum of care for individuals, youth, and families affected by alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use, violence/trauma, mental health challenges, and other health issues.
The Family Engagement Specialist will support IHR’s mission to develop a comprehensive continuum of care for women, adolescents, and their families who are affected by alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use, mental health problems, and violence/trauma. This position will be part of the Family Engagement Project (FEP), serving families involved with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) as well as the SAFE Project, serving adolescents and families across the northern region of Mass.
Provide strength-based and trauma-informed outreach, engagement, case management, and behavioral health counseling utilizing evidence-based interventions, including Motivational Interviewing, A-CRA, and ACC in clients’ homes and/or community location.
Conduct comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessments and individualized treatment plans related to substance use/mental health, trauma, relapse prevention, recovery support and treatment retention;
Assist youth and families to identify and access community treatment, support, and other resources as identified;
Work closely in collaboration with referral source as well as other providers involved with the youth/family to coordinate and implement appropriate services.
Participate in training and professional development, including certification and/or proficiency in evidence-based models including A-CRA, ACC, and Motivational Interviewing;
Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical electronic health records, billing records, and reporting as necessary;
Communicate with IHR’s main office in Cambridge through use of shared online calendars, time sheets, and check in/out with Supervisor
Attend team and agency staff meetings, including individual supervision;
Regular attendance and punctuality is required

Advanced degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field. Clinical license (LICSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT) strongly preferred;
Bi-lingual/Bi-cultural (Spanish/English) candidates strongly preferred;
Minimum of three years of experience working with families, adolescents/transition-age youth, mental health, substance use, and trauma;
Previous clinical experience either within the child welfare system or as a collateral provider preferred;
Familiarity with community-based resources within catchment area;
Competency in working with diverse individuals, families, and cultural backgrounds;
Experience providing home-based services, community outreach, and case management;
Strong organizational and time management skills, including ability to maintain quality and timely treatment documentation;
Energetic, flexible and able to take initiative and work independently as well as part of a team

Must have regular access to a reliable vehicle and a valid Massachusetts Driver’s License;
Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and regular access to a reliable vehicle;
Business Class Rider on Motor Vehicle Insurance, if transporting clients (within one month of start of job)
