Cox Automotive is looking for a Category Manager, Logistics & Transportation to join the Atlanta based Supply Chain Management team. The Category Manager will be responsible for the delivery and execution of strategic sourcing projects related to logistics and transportation categories. This person will develop strategy and lead transportation sourcing and carrier rate negotiations and supplier rationalization program for direct purchases.

This person is responsible for all aspects of sourcing events including identifying opportunities, understanding business requirements, developing category strategy, conducting market assessments, managing the sourcing process (including RFQs, RFIs and RFPs), identifying supplier participants and conducting supplier capability and suitability assessments, performing analysis, conducting negotiations and contract review and presenting regular status updates to the appropriate audiences. The Category Manager is responsible for leading cross functional teams to accomplish this and to ensure an implementation plan is developed and ready for execution.

The Category Manager is also drives supplier evaluation and contract compliance. This person will proactively develop a deep understanding of our business, processes and procedures and our internal customers’ objectives to develop strategies that meet their current and future procurement needs as well as develop broad supplier, product, and industry knowledge to provide sourcing expertise to your internal clients.

The Category Manager, Logistics & Transportation will:
Develop the Cox Automotive wide category strategy for defined purchase categories in collaboration with other Cox divisions and senior management

Implement supply chain (transportation) initiatives that provide end-to-end integrated opportunities for efficiency

Establish performance management for related categories and measure performance metrics.

Managing and overseeing carrier sourcing and bid opportunities and RFPs

Managing sourcing process ensuring supplier diversity is built into the process

Deliver on annual savings targets

Work closely with field personnel in addressing any issues that may arise as a result of vendor selection and/or pricing

Work with the contracts department to create agreements/contracts/standing orders with successful supplier(s), which contain the benefits (prices, service, technology, asset/inventory management, quality, etc.), using corporate contract templates or other approved methods.

Interfaces with suppliers on issues that affect supplier operations and Cox Automotive strategic issues

Build portfolio of defined purchase categories

Establish category priorities based on benefits opportunities

Optimize supply base moving towards a few strategic suppliers

Recognize and appropriately act upon supplier development opportunities (potential new relevant suppliers)

Develop supplier relationship management strategies and own supplier relationships for defined purchase

Lead development of the negotiation strategy

Lead supplier qualification and measurement for category

Lead projects and programs related to procurement planning, demand management, supplier selection, negotiating, contracting, implementation and reporting for all spend categories (listed above)

Responsible for establishing, executing and tracking project plans, utilizing fundamental project management techniques.

Work with field personnel to understand the vehicle estimating and parts ordering processes to ensure vendor selection and contractual commitment is aligned with internal processes

Qualifications:Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience

7+ years of professional experience in supply chain or equivalent experience

In depth knowledge of key strategic sourcing processes & best practices

Experience in transportations sourcing/3PL carrier rate negotiations, transportation costs and related financial activities

Experience with carrier bid optimization using various tools such as Coupa Trade Extensions

Experience in supply chain technologies such as Oracle P2P, eSourcing Suites and TMS/WMS platforms

Advance analytics and financial acumen to identify sourcing opportunities using Excel, Access, and SQL

Excellent negotiating and influencing skills with specific experience in management reporting and executive presentations

Experience developing sourcing strategies that deliver value and enhance the overall performance of the suppliers

Ability to influence without authority and drive change in the organization

Capable of managing several complex projects at a time dependent on project size and size of team

Experience coordinating work of cross-functional team members to accomplish project goals

Preferred:
Master's degree a plus

Prefer certification in Supply Chain Management, CPM, or CPSM

Project management experience, Lean, and six sigma training Prior Top 5 Consulting experience
