The Lab Manager assumes the administrative responsibilities for all laboratory services - technical, support and
Point of Care at Parkview Hospital or Parkview Huntington or Parkview Whitley or Parkview Noble or Parkview
Lagrange. Possesses knowledge of techniques, instruments, and the basic medical sciences in the areas
managed. Consistently communicates with and manages the activities of personnel in the section on all shifts.
Proactively researches, evaluates and recommends new policies, procedures and instrumentation which provide
for improved customer service and cost effectiveness. Thoroughly prepares the budget and evaluates expenses
for accuracy, implementing cost reduction measures as warranted. Promotes and implements continuous
process improvement activities including LEAN events demonstrating positive outcomes. Responsible for keeping
the laboratory in continuous readiness for inspections. Responsible for assuring that the needs of the
laboratory’s patients and customers are met. Works closely with the rest of the lab management team and the
Medical Directors to support quality, cost-effective laboratory services and the growth of the laboratory
Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical technology, Biological Science or related field is
required. Due to CLIA guidelines, transcripts of education and training will be verified.
Certification as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist / Medical technologist required, ASCP or NCA.
A minimum of six years experience in a clinical laboratory is required. Supervisory or Lead experience is
Must be able to present proof of past performance appraisals which document commendable or excellent
performance during the last three years. Must demonstrate experience or training in financial management,
inventory control, scheduling and personnel relations. Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
Must have basic personal computer skills using word processing and spreadsheets.
