The Position: Up and Coming Ambitious Carpenter

Excellent opportunity for a talented and self-motivated aspiring carpenter! A candidate seeking long term employment would work best in this position. For almost 30 years, we have worked on homes, schools, and historic buildings primarily in the greater Boston area. We offer a competitive wage and benefit package, including 401K, health insurance, paid time off and holidays.

As a member of the Alpine team you will need to be licensed. We pay for your class and licensing fees.

Applicants must be experienced with all tools – screw guns, nail guns, saws, sanders, etc. Period restoration experience is a big plus as we work on many antique properties.

Critical Skills (Must Haves):

Interior carpentry:

  • Install windows – both new and replacement.
  • Install/replace trim – chair rail, door casings, window casings, stool cap, aprons, stops, plus miscellaneous items – shelves, baseboard, etc.
  • Install exterior and interior door units.
  • Stairway work – treads, risers, balusters, etc.

Exterior carpentry:

  • Install railings
  • Install treads
  • Properly vent soffit/fascia – including continuous vents
  • Replace ridge vents
  • Install trim

Period restoration:

  • Primarily working on older homes including Victorians and antique colonials

Secondary (Good to have but not Critical):

  • Aluminum brake work – wrapping window and door trim, soffits, fascia, etc.
  • Vinyl siding
  • Framing
  • Wood siding
  • General construction tasks – concrete, masonry, etc.


  • Valid Driver's License / Reliable Vehicle
  • 3 to 5 years carpentry experience with a focus on restoration / remodeling
  • Basic carpentry tools - compressor, finish nail gun, compound miter, table saw and hand tools. These are examples of tools you should already own.
