Bose is looking for a Mobile Software Systems Architect to join our Consumer Electronics Division and become a key part of delivering software experiences that enrich people’s lives.

We are looking to leverage advances in technology to bring new experiences and greater value to our customers. As a Mobile Systems Architect, you will help translate customer experiences and product features into the capabilities that must be provided across our compute platforms. You will bring an end-to-end perspective to product development that considers all aspects from the hardware-software interface to the range of computation platforms and software stacks necessary to deliver on the promise of modern connected products and experiences. You will work with our partners in Product Marketing, User Experience, and Product Engineering to convert vision into reality. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with several development technologies and platforms, and deep experience with native mobile application development.

Responsibilities
Be a contributing member of the teams that define the technical approach, system and software architecture, and API design of new connected consumer products and experiences.
Refine the feature requirements of new product definitions to be compatible with a multi-platform development environment.
Create technical approach and design for new features that employ the current capabilities in multiple platforms.
Explore and clearly define the gaps between current platform capabilities, and capabilities needed to realize new features.
Drive new capabilities requirements in our platforms in order to support the development of new product features.
Direct the architecture and technology choices that enable a world-class user experience.
Work with various engineers and architects within the platforms and products teams to improve our adoption of industry best practices for security.
Understand system issues spanning app, cloud and embedded firmware domains and an ability to make system level design tradeoffs and decisions.
Some local travel required.
Required Experience
At least 8 years of experience in designing and building complex systems such as networked equipment or consumer products.
Experience working in start-up companies involving applications/software/embedded systems and/or mobile applications interacting with cloud services.
Hands on development experience and full understanding of a systems development life cycle.
Proficient in Agile and SCRUM practices.
Skills and Qualifications
Superb written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate clearly with other technical teams and business stakeholders.
System thinker with excellent understanding of software system architecture, operating system fundamentals, API designs, and system security.
Deep understanding of and experience with native mobile application development.
Knowledge in the following areas is a plus: Python, TCP/IP network protocols, RESTful APIs, Bluetooth & BLE.
Highly collaborative and able to work as part of a cross-functional team.
Understanding of IoT trends, connectivity, and products.
Knowledge in best practices for implementing security in connected consumer products.
Ability to balance processes and innovation. Apply enough processes to improve efficiencies and increase predictability without loss of creativity.
Maturity to manage by influence vs. status.
Balanced passion and objectivity.
Education
BS in software engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, physics or mathematics.
