Requirements:
- Educational Background: Bachelor of Arts or Science degree with a minimum 3.6 GPA.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in tutoring Spanish and or a related educational domain such as English and History or Math and Science.
- Availability: 5 to 10 hours per week for tutoring sessions, typically scheduled between 2 PM and 9 PM on weekdays. Weekend availability is preferred.
- Commitment: Ability to commit for the school year, from August to early June.
Responsibilities:
As an OPEN EDvantage Spanish Tutor, your key duties will include:
- Cultivating effective study habits and time management techniques for optimal learning.
- Guiding students in organizing and prioritizing their assignments and projects.
- Empowering students with essential self-advocacy skills, guiding them on effectively communicating with teachers for clarity and support.
- Simplifying intricate class content, ensuring students grasp concepts with ease and understanding.
- Ensuring students consistently stay aligned with their assignment schedules and deadlines.
- Providing regular updates to parents on their child's academic progress.
- Strategically preparing students for successful test performances.
Essential Skills:
- Teaching Expertise: Ability to effectively teach and explain complex Spanish concepts to middle school and high school students in a clear and engaging manner.
- Time Management: Proficiency in teaching valuable study and time management skills to help students improve their academic performance.
- Organization: Strong organizational skills to assist students in staying on top of assignments, projects, and deadlines.
- Subject Mastery: Ability to support students in mastering challenging Spanish concepts, enabling them to succeed in assessments.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication abilities to convey information clearly to both students and parents, differentiating instruction for diverse learners.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using digital platforms like Zoom to teach remotely, ensuring effective interaction and engagement in virtual learning environments.
Interview Process:
Our selection process includes the following stages:
- Preliminary Application: Please complete a Google Form to assess your initial suitability for the tutoring role. Submit your resume, transcripts, a cover letter, and a list of references.
- Interview 1: This first interview evaluates your skills and experience to confirm your compatibility with the role.
- Interview 2: Conduct a simulated virtual tutoring session to demonstrate your teaching abilities and instructional techniques.
- Background Check: Successful candidates must pass a background check to ensure the safety and security of our students.
