Major/Essential Functions

Perform administrative work that supports the Office of Equal Opportunity by assisting and monitoring the processing of cases in a timely manner and in compliance with institutional policies and applicable laws relating to equal opportunity, Title IX, and affirmative action.
Conduct intake interviews to gather initial information from constituents with complaints and to determine the appropriate level of intervention/response and applicable operating policies and procedures.
Work closely with attorneys to coordinate investigations by scheduling meetings with parties and witnesses, gathering evidence, and following up with any response actions.
Conduct comprehensive investigations of discrimination and harassment complaints, including Title IX complaints involving employees, by collecting the relevant facts and evidence related to the reported incident.
Prepare thorough, reliable, impartial, and timely investigation reports for submission to the designated administrator.
Implement a document tracking system in order to facilitate organization and maintenance of case files with the knowledge and ability to compile information in response to litigation and other records requests.
Draft documents, letters, memos, research issues, and prepare supporting documentation for investigations.
Communicate effectively, orally and in writing with co-workers and constituents and maintain confidentiality regarding all communications and office matters.
Understand and follow established institutional policies and procedures, as well as all state and federal guidelines related to equal opportunity, Title IX, and affirmative action obligations and remain knowledgeable of the current state and federal law and regulations and trends in the field of higher education.
Synthesize a wide variety of data or information and compile appropriate reports using spreadsheets and other appropriate software.
Perform other administrative duties as instructed.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in the area of specialization or closely related field. Four years of related administrative and technical experience. Additional job related education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, human resources generalist, or investigator.
Ability to handle multiple tight deadlines.
Ability to deal with persons from all backgrounds in difficult situations with respect and compassion.
Strong computer skills and proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Pay Statement
