NYP/Columbia University Medical Center Department of Orthopedic Surgery seeks Physician Assistant to support to a busy Orthopedic Trauma, Hip & Knee Reconstruction Surgeon, Dr. Roshan P. Shah, MD, JD.

Dr. Roshan P. Shah, MD, JD, Director -Complex Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction, Co-Director- Minimally Invasive Hip and Knee Replacement, Director-Adult Reconstruction Hip & Knee Fellowship, Assistant Professor & Attending of Orthopedic Surgery at NYP/Columbia University Medical Center has a particular interest in complex primary and revision hip and knee replacements, as well as associated fractures and infections. As Director of Complex Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction at Columbia University, he has reconstructed failed total hips and knees using sophisticated techniques and technologies. He has successfully treated patients from across the United States and neighboring countries, finding solutions to problems that stump others. Dr. Shah has made several contributions to research, having published 40 peer-reviewed articles, textbook chapters, and editorials, in addition to giving more than 30 scientific presentations. He served as editor of the University of Pennsylvania Orthopedic Journal and the Yale Journal of Health Law, Policy, and Ethics. He was also an associate editor for the Stanford Law and Policy Review.

Working alongside Dr. Shah, the PA will participate in the care navigation and coordination for adults with orthopedic trauma, hip and knee issues, assist in the office, hospital operating room and patient clinic settings, assist H&K Comprehensive Joint Replacement (CJR) team in maintaining compliance and care management of patients enrolled in this initiative, work closely with staff to develop/improve patient care protocols, assist patients in meeting health needs by identifying potential or existing problems, exploring available alternatives and providing support to the patient and family members to make an informed decision regarding health care while working towards establishing an independent ambulatory care practice.

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience.

  • Current New York Physician Assistant (PA) license, DEA number.
  • Masters required, Doctorate preferred.
  • Current BCLS/ACLS certification.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
  • 5 years of clinical experience required with Minimum 1 year of Orthopedic Training required.
