The Role:
EF International Languages Campuses has a school in Brighton that teaches English to international students. Some of the students live with American host families while studying. The Host Family Recruiter helps the Host Family Coordinator to find, recruit, vet, and assist host families. The host family experience is an influential and rewarding experience for the students, thus, it is a critical component to the student’s satisfaction and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for the student.

The Host Family Recruiter creatively searches for new host families and monitors/assists current host families. Recruitment could involve engaging local schools, churches, and organizations and explaining how rewarding it is to host an international student. The recruiter may also be tabling at local fairs, farmers markets, or supermarkets, informing and speaking with interested families. There is also a database of families that the recruiter would contact to determine whether families are still interested in hosting. The goals and tasks are challenging and are best suited for those who are resilient, energetic, and interested in sales and marketing.

Responsibilities & Duties:
Assist in the development and implementation of marketing, recruitment, and outreach campaign
Utilize existing marketing channels to increase exposure of our programs in the community, and increase host family recruitment sources
Recruit and visit host families
Attend community events: setting up booths, tabling, and door-to-door community outreach
Call and email the host family database; reply to host family calls and emails
Find new avenues for advertisements and recruitment (radio, presentations, print media)
Manage emails and online postings (Craigslist, homestay directories)

Profile of Ideal Candidate:
University student looking to start working prior to graduation
Sales, marketing, or promotional experience or interest
Self-motivated, with demonstrated ability to work without direct oversight and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Creative and interested in exploring a variety of marketing channels
Mature and comfortable having difficult conversations with host families and students
Available to work evenings and weekends
Experience with international cultures and knowledge of the Greater Boston community
Bright, positive, outgoing and approachable personality
Able to speak openly and easily with anyone
Passionate about learning, travel, and international education
