Duties
Summary
This position is located in the Office of General Counsel, Railroad Retirement Board. The incumbent will be responsible for providing a full range of administrative support services to the Board offices including administrative, management, procurement, and analyst duties that require analytical ability, judgment, and knowledge of the organization.

Responsibilities

As a Secretary to the Board, you will:
Maintain and update a modern docket system for submitting, tracking and editing of items pending approval of the Board.
Serve as the records liaison for the Board.
Work with the agency Records Officer to comply with all records retention schedules for documents generated by the Board.
Exercise signature authority for matters approved by the Board.
Preparation of correspondence for the approval of the Board Members on a wide variety of subjects to be released to attorneys, claimants, Members of Congress or their representatives, heads of other departments or agencies, etc.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for GS-12 level:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or higher in the Federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as experience routing and tracking legal cases or administrative matters using an electronic docketing system or electronic tracking system; experience preparing correspondence for high level government officials or corporate officers; experience creating and maintaining paper and electronic files for research/reference or archival purposes; experience submitting documents or case filings in electronic formats to courts or administrative websites; experience handling in-person visits and phone calls from high-ranking officials.

Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
