Responsibilities
This Composite Processing Engineer within Spirit Research and Development (R & D) will lead cross-functional Teams to analyze, research and develop composite materials and their related fabrication processes.

Major responsibilities include:
Applying principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop composite fabrication and assembly processes
Optimizing materials for use in engineering design of structures, systems and subsystems
Applying material properties and design allowables to composite processing methods, specifications, and standards
Reviewing engineering drawings and documents for part conformance and to assist in resolving part failure analysis for fabrication, assembly and in-service
Applying knowledge of structural component fabrication and assembly processes (including associated technologies) to establish R & D strategies and plans
Developing and maturing technology including production implementation and on-going support
Qualifications

Requirements:
12+ years of professional engineering experience within composite processing
8+ years of experience in leading high visibility projects monitored by senior leadership
US Citizenship Required
This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
Proven project management skills to facilitate and execute project activities including:
Communicating project status
Establishing & maintaining project budget
Developing & updating project schedules
Delegating tasks to the supporting team
Must be highly adaptive and easily able to manage multiple shifting priorities

Required Education:
Requires educational credentials equivalent to a Bachelor of Science Engineering degree from an ABET accredited course of study

Preferred Education:
Master of Science Degree with 8+ years of professional experience in an Engineering role
