Position Overview:
Bear Down Brands is seeking a strategic and experienced Strategic Product Sourcing Manager to lead and manage sourcing and go to market efforts surrounding retail product opportunities for our brands Pure Enrichment, Verilux, and Bentgo. The ideal candidate has experience sourcing products and working with factories in China, as well as ideating, strategizing, pricing, and executing product solutions and programs for retail customers such as Target, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, Costco, Sam’s Club, and Kroger.
Key Responsibilities:

Product Sourcing and Planning: Collaborate with existing factories and identify new manufacturing partners and products overseas. Develop comprehensive product and planogram strategies and see them through from ideation to sales pitch to on-shelf placement. Negotiate with suppliers to secure the best prices and terms.
Lead New On-Shelf Product Initiatives at Retailers: Apply your expertise in navigating the nuances, timing, and overall strategy associated with Brick & Mortar retailers. Collaborate with the VP of Sales and VP of Product Development to identify target products and categories. Leverage your knowledge in sourcing, merchandising, pricing and margin strategy, sales cycles, and product differentiation, and work with our presentation team in creating compelling sales pitches that position us as the top choice for retail buyers.
International Liaison: Work closely with Hong Kong team and overseas factories to understand new developments, technologies, and overall solutions that can be applied to retail product strategy. Please note, during certain periods and critical projects, working evening hours will be needed to coordinate with overseas factories. Some travel to Asia can also be expected.
Strategy and Research: Research latest retail product trends and be in the know of what retail customers are placing in store and looking for in regards to innovation and overall array. Identify opportunities in the retailer’s assortment and conduct competitive research to strategize on best packaging and merchandising solutions. Truly understand Brick & Mortar margin needs and be able to make best pricing strategies for solutions plans.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with rest of Product Development team in relation to getting color palettes, industrial design offerings, and product development from PD for retail-focused opportunities. Work with various interdepartmental teams, including Sales and Marketing to align on goals and sourcing requests.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree

Minimum of 4-6 years of work experience in product development in a manufacturing and sourcing environment

Experience with product sourcing for Brick & Mortar retail accounts.

Has experience working directly with factories and suppliers.

In depth understanding of manufacturing process/timing, pricing, sales numbers, margins, and economies of scale; Strong negotiation skills.

Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to bridge the gap between international and domestic teams.

Experience with product presentation deliverables.

Strong strategic and analytical background to build full solutions to present to key stakeholders.

Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin is advantageous.
