Pastoral Associate for Adult Evangelization

The Collaborative of Sacred Heart and Our Lady's, two Newton Massachusetts Roman Catholic parishes, seeks an exceptional candidate for the position of Pastoral Associate for Adult Evangelization. This person will work with two dynamic parish communities under one pastor to integrate a fully Catholic evangelical spirit into the life of the parishes. Alongside other staff, this person will particularly focus on enkindling a love for and a relationship with Christ and the Catholic Church both in current parishioners and those who are far from or who do not know Christ. This is inclusive of young families and young adults. While evangelization and faith formation of adults is the primary focus of this position, responsibilities also include other areas of pastoral ministry in a large and active Collaborative. This is a full time exempt salaried position.

Evangelization Initiatives and Adult Faith Formation
  • Forming parishioners into missionary disciples primarily through small groups and one-to-one mentoring;
  • Training of parish leaders on the facilitation of small groups and one-to-one mentoring relationships;
  • Working with parish leaders to integrate evangelization into their ministries;
  • Planning and executing Adult Faith Formation activities and events
Young Family & Young Adult Ministry
  • Prioritizing building relationships with families with young children;
  • Creating opportunities for community among families and supporting the growth of faith within their homes;
  • Specific outreach to Young Adults through age-appropriate events.
Liturgical Ministry
  • Regular presence at Sunday Masses and special liturgies in the Collaborative
  • Minister for wake services, funerals, and burials
  • Participation in various liturgical ministries
  • Lead, preach, and organize other liturgical events as needed
  • Attend Pastoral Staff Meetings and Pastoral Council Meetings
  • Staff contact for social justice organizations in the Collaborative including Honduras Committee and Justice & Peace Committee
  • Other duties as directed or requested by the pastor
  • Be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and have an outgoing, self-motivated personality, a consistent prayer life and established communication skills
  • A Master Degree in Theology or a related field from an accredited college or university strongly preferred
  • Commitment to ongoing spiritual growth and theological formation
  • Willingness to work as a participating member of a parish team
  • Strong organization/administrative skills
  • Experience working in a parish setting
