District Office at 180 N. Wabash
City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 70,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education.
Reporting to the Chief of Strategy and Staff at the District Office of the City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) and working closely with the Deputy Provost and Vice Chancellor of Community and Legislative Affairs, the District Director of Strategic Initiatives (Program Development – Temp) is responsible for designing, developing, and incubating district-wide pilot initiatives and corresponding strategies that improve recruitment, CCC experience, persistence, and time to completion for adult learners. The District Director of Strategic Initiatives (Program Development – Temp) will work across college and district teams and functions to provide technical and strategic support in program development and project management and ensure district-wide alignment of key strategic initiatives related to adult learners.
Working in collaboration with the Chief of Strategy and Staff, senior administrators, and college leaders, the District Director of Strategic Initiatives (Program Development – Temp) provides thought partnership and capacity to the development and implementation of the District’s five-year vision and strategic framework related to adult learners. The District Director aids the Chief of Strategy and Staff in supporting the dissemination and uptake of new innovations and practices related to adult learners across the District. The District Director will also coordinate the efforts of third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. Performs related duties as required.
Provides technical support, coaching, and feedback to district leaders with strategic planning related to adult learners.
Aligns pilot adult learner initiatives with the established strategic framework for the district and collaborates with district personnel to ensure alignment with district initiatives.
Supports the development and adoption of innovative practices and projects related to adult learners across the District, in collaboration with the Chief of Strategy and Staff and other stakeholders at both the District- and college-level.
Directs and manages projects and initiatives related to adult learners assigned by the Chief of Strategy and Staff from idea through implementation.
Defines project or initiative scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior leadership and stakeholders.
Gathers and incorporates stakeholder input:
Ensures appropriate stakeholder engagement
Creates vehicles and opportunity for input across relevant stakeholders
Leads creation of document drafts and revisions
Facilitates communication that is transparent and consistent
Plans for regular engagement with the following groups:
Community Based Organizations
Internal Leadership Team
District Wide Working Group
Marketing and Communications
Prepares best practices and user-friendly processes and documents related to each initiative:
Develops strategy recommendations including best practice models
Creates content including refinement/adaptation of best practice materials
Ensures integration and alignment with existing initiatives at CCC
Engages national peers for collaboration and support for internal team
Develops and manages project plans related to each initiative:
Supports development and communication plan for pilot site selection
Supports creations of pilot scope, budget, timeline, and deliverables including identification of internal owners
Coordinates workflows and communication within and between each project initiative
Sends regular project updates to relevant stakeholders
Sets and continually manages project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
Tracks project milestones and deliverables.
A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university and/or ten years of work experience in strategic consulting, strategy department or role within a non-profit organization or public sector institution.
Experience working in a higher education environment desirable.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with process change and optimization.
Demonstrated ability to advise and influence leaders throughout the organization on performance improvement opportunities.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Knowledge of strategic planning.
Knowledge of best practices in change management.
Knowledge of best practices to monitor institutional effectiveness and continuous improvement.

Of note, this is a Full Time Temporary position that we are hoping to last 9 months.
