Assistant Auditor 1 (180005PV)

Job Duties

The Auditor of State’s Office is searching for motivated candidates interested in a career in Auditing in Miami County. Our Auditors ensure that Ohio’s governmental entities are spending public money legally and responsibly. This is accomplished by performing audits of public offices (e.g., state agencies, counties, townships, school districts, villages, municipalities) and private organizations that receive public funds.

During the course of a financial audit, our staff auditors will gather information and documentation necessary for the execution of audit procedures; assist in the performance of substantive tests of specific accounts and records; assist in the preparation of documentation of internal accounting and administrative control systems; assist in the performance of tests of controls; assist in the performance of tests of compliance with laws and regulations applicable to the auditee; assist in the preparation of necessary working papers and schedules; develop familiarity with audit methodology, the audit process, audit programs, working papers, report formats and accounting systems of the auditees.

Qualifications

Baccalaureate degree from accredited college or university, or successful completion & at least 16 semester hours or equivalent in accounting or related field from accredited college, university, trade, technical or vocational school beyond high school level, or possesses at least 3 yrs. exp. in accounting or related field per Section 117.09 of Revised Code; valid Ohio driver's license. -Or successful completion of equivalent examination provided for in Rule 4701-3-07 of Ohio Administrative Code; valid Ohio driver's license.

Knowledge of accounting; algebra; basic auditing*; statistics*; office practices & procedures*; generally accepted government auditing standards & auditing procedures adopted by Auditor of State*; public relations*. Skill in operation of motor vehicle; use of calculator; use of personal computer*. Ability to understand system of accounting procedures; calculate fractions, decimals & percentages; gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things; handle routine inquiries from & contacts with public officials; interpret variety of instructions in written, oral, picture or schedule form; cooperate with co-workers on group projects.
