JOB SUMMARY
The Cellar Team Lead reports to the Operations Manager and is a critical leadership position primarily responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the personnel and operation on the floor. This person must possess the ability to understand production requirements via verbal and written instructions and prioritize daily work of their team to meet business and winemaking requirements. They are responsible for assigning work to personnel on their shift and monitoring progress to ensure completion, including all associated paperwork. They must be able to effectively train others on all work processes in accordance with SOP and hold their team accountable, as necessary. The cellar Lead must be able to model and support all company and department policies, regulation and standard operating procedures while ensuring that safe work practices are implemented and followed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Must possess and demonstrate leadership abilities and be able to work independently with minimal supervision; as well as prioritize, organize, motivate, direct, and evaluate the work of others to accomplish the department’s goals.
- Interact and communicate effectively with all personnel, vendors, contractors, co-workers, and management.
- Complete all required paperwork correctly and keep accurate records.
- Analyze and resolve day-to-day work problems and recognize and inform management of potential problems.
- Racking and blending wine accurately according to Winemaker’s instructions.
- Operate crush equipment and presses.
- Proficient forklift operations.
- Operate plate and frame filter and be proficient in the filtration process.
- Perform other cellar tasks as needed.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and healthful work environment at all times.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Able to perform basic cellar equipment maintenance.
- Must have ability to learn and effectively train others on all work processes in accordance to SOP and Safety Programs and hold other accountable, as necessary.
- May function as Weigh Master (if necessary).

QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 18 years or older at time of hire.
- Possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure.
- Possess at least 3 years of experience working within a winery, knowledge of all operations, equipment process, and procedures of the department, including refrigeration systems and barrel operations.
- Must have a well-developed attention to detail.
- Must possess good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and display integrity, character, and strong leadership skills
- Possess the ability to learn and develop computer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook & Excel.
- Must have demonstrated above average work performance and ability and possess an excellent attendance and safety record.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to pass all applicable testing.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- After qualification, the company may require First Aid, CPR, AED, Emergency Responder, and/or other certifications, as necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to lift and carry weights of up to 55lbs at varying frequency and duration.
- Must be able to repeatedly climb stairs/vertical tank ladders at heights of 60’ and higher,
- Must be able to enter and work in a confined space.
- Work with hazardous chemicals and wear a face mask and appropriate PPE.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, lifting, climbing, pulling, and pushing.
- Position will be exposed to indoor and outdoor environments with varying noise levels.
- Exposed to inclement seasonal weather, summer heat, cold weather, and rain.
COMPENSATION
- Hourly Pay Range Posted: $27.74 - $41.59/hr.
- Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience; skills, knowledge, and abilities; education; and other position related factors.
