The Director, Legal Operation and Business Process Strategy is responsible for day-to-day management of the Legal Department operations. This leader will be accountable for managing the Legal department's budgeting and internal financial reporting, assisting with onboarding of vendors and outside counsel, implementing technology solutions and knowledge management tools, helping to ensure that records management and other systems are implemented and are being appropriately utilized.
Serving as the Chief of Staff for the General Counsel, the director will improve the day-to-day efficiency and effectiveness of the Legal department by creating and improving processes in addition to managing the Legal intranet page and other SharePoint sites. The Director will also lead department communications and meetings such as quarterly town halls and monthly meetings. This role will lead a team and will also be responsible for the team development and performance management.
Reporting and Analytics
Develop and implement appropriate key performance indicators and benchmarking through data analytics to measure the legal team's performance both within and outside the department.
Develop General Counsel and Officer dashboards using Tableau to assist with reporting and overall department management.
Legal Vendor Management
Manage all Legal vendors, including Outside Counsel, including overseeing vendor and law firm rates, alternative and fixed pricing billing, vendor performance and compliance with TPRM (Third Party Risk Management) processes and billing guidelines. Manage Legal Tracker legal e-billing and accruals process.
Responsible for implementing, managing and overseeing Legal Technology including Exam Management, Matter Management, Legal Risk and other applications.
Liaise as necessary with BT department and outside vendors.
Administers and acts as a subject matter expert and team resources on all functionality and capability of the legal technology platforms providing resolution of issues and questions
Manage Legal budget, including planning, forecasting, matter budgeting and invoice processing per company timelines and requirements.
Leadership for department-wide activities including business continuity planning, capacity planning, records retention, employee onboarding/off- boarding, facilities and resource management, quarterly town halls, monthly Legal Director meetings and Legal SharePoint and intranet sites.
Management of Legal Operations team including performance management, coaching and team development.
Bachelor’s degree required. Higher education preferred.
8+ years of project management experience
4+ years of experience working with legal technologies, including experience with Legal Tracker Process Unity, Ariba, and knowledge of management tools.
4+ years of vendor management experience preferred.
4+ years of in-house legal department experience preferred.
