Role Description

The Controller will be a critical role that oversees the accounting function and helps scale Simple Mills Accounting & Finance operations. The role will report to the VP Finance.

Specific responsibilities will include:
Manage and develop growing accounting team
Develop long-term plan to scale the accounting function with the rapid growth of the business
Support the upcoming ERP implementation and ongoing ERP management
Lead the creation of timely and accurate monthly financial statements
Oversee month-end close and all accounting/tax processes
Manage the financial statement and all ad hoc audits
Work with tax advisors to prepare all federal and state income tax returns
Ensure all 1099s, sales and use tax returns, and payroll tax returns are filed timely
Implement new accounting standards including ASC 606 and ASC 842
Optimize current inventory count procedures inventory controls
Support Finance and the monthly FP&A process
Oversee cash and working capital management
Oversee payroll and the Simple Mills 401K
Support the Finance and Accounting team with ad-hoc strategic work to support the business

Position Requirements

A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance and 8-10+ years of accounting experience, preferably in audit, corporate accounting, or financial reporting
Experience managing people and leadingteams
Public accounting experience and CPA preferred
Quickbooks and NetSuite experience is a plus
Deep knowledge of GAAP including internal controls and income tax
Very strong attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to juggle multiple mission-critical tasks on a day-to-day basis. Candidate must thrive in a fast-paced environment
Mastery of Microsoft Excel
Willingness to be flexible, adaptable, and proactive in a constantly changing industry and company
Passion for food and healthy eating/belief in company’s goals and mission
