We are we looking for.
ICMA is looking for our next greatest team member who will researches, and write content dedicated to positioning ICMA as a thought leader in the local government leadership and management area. You will work closely with the Research and Policy Teams as well as ICMA Strategic Partners to develop an editorial calendar consistent with release of new research, publications, and other material. Develop and execute content strategies to increase the visibility of ICMA research and publications. Additionally you will write content for other projects as requested.

What you’ll do:
Plans, manages, researches, gathers, and writes copy for e-publications, PM Magazine, Local Government Research Review, and the website based on expert interviews or source material developed from ICMA research.
Develops content strategies for each major release to increase the visibility and engagement with the material (measured as downloads, purchases, and web analytics).
Uses content management system to publish articles, blog posts and other content types on ICMA.org
Works with digital strategies specialist to create full calendar of highly effective, engaging social media posts.
Analyzes and evaluates content performance and adapts strategies accordingly.
Participates on Editorial and Content Creator teams

What you need to be successful in this role:Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, English, or Public Administration, Marketing or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.
2 years of writing/editing experience in a professional environment
One year of editorial project management experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of editorial principles, practices and techniques.
Knowledge of publication production processes and methods predominantly for electronic dissemination.
Knowledge of local government operations and structures.
Ability to create and publish fresh and engaging content in both long form and for social media.
Ability to create a content calendar and meet established deadlines
Ability to use web and e-marketing metrics to assess effectiveness and make adjustments as necessary
Skill in researching, writing articles and materials for publication on the Web, in e-newsletters, for such programs as the annual awards, and for materials transmitted to the executive board.
Skill in organization and scheduling of his/her work.
Familiarity with Internet-based content management systems and tools.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
