Business Development Intern – Intern II Administrative (Dulles, VA)
Performs professional administrative staff duties in support of functional areas, gradually increasing in level of difficulty and responsibility. This paid and mentored internship specifically supports the Business Development (BD) department. The duration of the internship is approximately 10 weeks; can be full-time or part-time depending on the availability of the intern.
Primary & Essential Accountabilities
Performs professional administrative staff duties in support of functional areas, gradually increasing in level of difficulty and responsibility
Contributes to the execution of projects and organizational objectives when asked
Creates graphs and charts for various projects using spreadsheet and graphics software with direction
Creates various documents and electronic information with direction
Update relevant data using database applications
Assists in answering questions and/or refers inquiry to appropriate person
Assists in researching information as needed for projects and other objectives
Assists in coordinating conferences and special events; assists in making any necessary room rental, reservation or catering arrangements
Adhere to procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials for which the role has responsibility
Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
Intern will develop transferable skills by assisting the BD team to manage the opportunity life-cycle – help with tasks, both administrative, tactical, and sometimes strategic. Help with Contract database management. Conduct LinkedIn research. Potentially assist with appointment setting and scheduling functions. Conduct tactical opportunity analysis. Assist with the preparation and development of reports from Salesforce. Use social media tools for research, and work with marketing to prepare material(s). This is a great opportunity to apply what you have learned in school and to learn the anatomy of a “deal” in a real time BD setting while honing functional research skills critical to career success.
Intern will gain knowledge of the anatomy of a government contractor’s business and the intricacy of the business development process. Knowledge of Enterprise Services offerings and related Global Communications work. Knowledge of the government budget, procurement, and contracting process.
Skills learned and practiced by the intern will transfer to a GES role similar to Marketing Research Analyst with growth potential to BD management.
High School Diploma or GED and completion of 1 semester of college
Communicate effectively orally and in writing
Effectively utilize standard office software and computer equipment
Proficient knowledge with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
